Detailed Overview/Outline
We all have ideas that could make our jobs more efficient and make our efforts more productive. But, we just can’t get our boss to hear us out or give our ideas a chance. How can we get more involved, contribute positive ideas and change, and be recognized for more than just accomplishing our assignments?
“Managing Up” is not about telling your superiors what to do. Rather, it is about learning the skills needed to meet your organization’s goals and make recognized and valued contributions. It’s about learning to create an open exchange of ideas between your supervisor and yourself to yield measurable results.
You will also learn how to create, foster and work in non-traditional ways that allow your support team members to contribute even more to achieving your team’s goals. Adding “Managing Up” to your skill set means that you must understand and dismantle the barriers that prevent your own staff from managing up. By doing so, you will create a work relationship which encourages a higher level of personal investment from your team members, increasing their satisfaction and productivity.
