Detailed Overview/Outline

Complete Projects on Schedule, within Budget, and with the Desired Results

Project management skills are highly valued because project success is critical for organizational success. This workshop provides practical, step-by-step methodologies that result in the successful management of projects, regardless of size or complexity. You can build new skills or refine existing ones to maximize your performance in a project environment.

The Kepner-Tregoe Project Management Process guides the thinking necessary to logically define, plan, and implement projects. This simple process provides a common language that helps project managers communicate project needs, surface and resolve project issues, and manage the project. Combined with the traditional project management tools and techniques—also learned in the workshop—our concise and comprehensive approach can be learned and applied quickly.

Our updated and revised Project Management workshop offers a flexible, easily customized approach with enhanced links to the Kepner-Tregoe processes for problem solving, decision making, performance management and managing involvement, and improved alignment with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®).

Who Should Attend
This session is designed for managers and team members working on projects as small as setting up an office or as large as building a new processing facility. Our practical process can be learned and applied by all individuals charged with making sure projects are completed successfully. If you are new to project management, this workshop will provide you with a concise and comprehensive introduction that can be used immediately. Even experienced project managers benefit from this logical process and specific tools.

RESULTS
When NASA required a major contractor to change project management responsibilities, over 550 people were trained in Kepner-Tregoe Project Management. The new approach to business resulted in increased award and incentive fees, zero non-conformances in an ISO 9000 audit for the first time ever, and a reduction in personnel attrition.

A chemical plant was having trouble implementing continuous improvement projects because projects were not defined or monitored on the shop floor. By training operators in Kepner-Tregoe Project Management, and breaking down improvement projects into mini-projects that could be managed at the shop level, project goals were met and productivity jumped 20 percent—the largest increase in the history of the line. A physical-conditions audit showed improvement in all safety categories and new projects no longer faced resistance.

When a computer/electronics manufacturer wanted to consolidate 650 employees from three different facilities into a single, new building over one weekend, they used Kepner-Tregoe Project Management to plan the new space and make the move happen. The legacy of the move's success spread throughout the company's global operations. Now project team members are frequently called upon to share best practices with their colleagues around the world.

When the port authority of a major city undertook an extensive, multi-billion dollar airport renovation, they turned to Kepner-Tregoe Project Management to provide managers with the skills to develop and coordinate the undertaking. They were able to secure badly needed additional funding once the project scope was properly defined.

Workshop hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

A continental breakfast and lunch will be served each day.
