Two Days
Executive Presence is a two-day workshop designed for senior executives and people who must interact with individuals and groups at the highest levels of an organization - both internally and with clients and customers. In this highly participatory workshop, attendees gain a clear understanding of how they look, sound, and behave in their interactions with others. They then learn new and innovative techniques that lead to improved poise and confidence, as well as the ability to adjust their behavior to the diverse situations in which they find themselves.
The small class size allows each attendee to participate fully in every exercise and activity. Throughout the program, highly skilled instructors provide personalized coaching and create a safe, supportive environment in which to experiment with new techniques. Special exercises are developed to address the specific needs of individuals, and each attendee receives a private coaching session with an instructor. In addition, repeated videotaping gives immediate feedback to the participants and is a valuable tool in the learning process.
Executive Presence is a customized program, tailored to the specific needs of both the individual participants and the sponsoring organization. It is a step-by-step, proven approach to personal excellence, suitable for anyone who aspires to professional demeanor and quality performance.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Executive Presence is designed for CEOs, executives, and those who come into contact with them on a daily basis or in more formal, presentation situations. Candidates include:- Professionals who are already working at the executive level and who could still benefit from some "polishing"
- Managers, supervisors, and salespeople who must interact as peers with C-level executives at client companies and within their own organization
- Individuals who have high levels of technical expertise and must convey information in a professional, but less technical manner
- Anyone whose responsibilities include motivating and/or persuading people to action
WHAT WILL THEY LEARN?
Participants in Executive Presence will learn the principles and techniques of effective professional behavior so they can:- Feel at ease and act comfortably when dealing with people at high levels of an organization
- Relax under pressure and keep their composure under duress
- Speak convincingly, think quickly on their feet, connect immediately, and develop a "trusted advisor" role
- Deliver a message that is to the point, using only the amount of technical information appropriate for the designated receiver
- Handle themselves with diplomacy and skill in difficult situations
- Maintain a warm and personal connection with individuals and groups of all sizes
- Look, act, and sound in ways that build a strong professional image
WHAT IS COVERED IN EXECUTIVE PRESENCE?
Because each attendee has a unique set of needs and circumstances, Executive Presence is tailored to meet the changing requirements of those in the class. However, like Speak! Present! Influence!, this workshop is built on the framework of the Five Great Skills. They are:Relaxation. Participants will learn to:
- Release muscle tension and relax under pressure
- Convey an easy, comfortable, executive demeanor in all presenting situations
- Display the behavioral characteristics that say "leader"
Energy. Participants will learn to:
- Project their personalities and expertise with power and authority
- Deliver a message with commitment and enthusiasm
- Exude energy in a way that draws in an audience
Expression. Participants will learn to:
- Use their face, voice, and body in ways that guide, influence, and persuade an audience
- Match their body language with their words so the message comes out loud and clear
- Add the "human touch" to a professional message
Organization and Preparation. Participants will learn to:
- Speak spontaneously, even when forced to read a manuscript
- Structure a presentation so it is easy to create, easy to deliver, and easy to listen to
- Speak in terms of the "big picture," and eliminate extraneous detail
- Answer questions in a clear, concise manner
Focus. Participants will learn to:
- Make a personal, emotional connection with an audience
- Adjust their delivery based on the needs and level of understanding of the people with whom they're talking
- Maintain command over themselves in any situation
- Handle objections and diffuse hostility
HOW WILL THE SKILLS BE REINFORCED?
Each participant will receive:- The comprehensive VOICE-PRO Study Guide for post-class reference
- An audio CD containing exercises learned in class
- A videotape of the participant's work in class
- A copy of Carolyn Dickson's book, Speaking Magic: Performance Strategies for Winning Your Business Audience
- A written evaluation, including recommendations for continued practice and progress
- A follow-up call three weeks from the date of the workshop
- Other follow-up reinforcement by special arrangement
