About ASTM and Sponsoring Committee G01

ASTM is one of the world's largest voluntary standards development organizations. ASTM standards have grown to be among the world's most widely used and accepted documents. The 76-volume Annual Book of ASTM Standards (now available on CD ROM) contains over 11,000 standards written by 34,000 members on our 129 technical committees. These standards are widely used throughout the world as the basis of purchasing and other contracts, codes, laws and regulations.

Sponsor Background:
ASTM, celebrated it's 100th anniversary in 1998, is one of the world's largest voluntary standards development organizations. ASTM standards have grown to be among the world's most widely used and accepted documents. The 81-volume Annual Book of ASTM Standards contains over 12,000 standards written by 34,000 members on our 140 technical committees. These standards and related information are widely used throughout the world as the basis of purchasing and other contracts, codes, laws and regulations. ASTM Committee D-2 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants developed the standard used in this course.

Instructor(s):
Raymund Singleton

Instructor Background:
Raymund Singleton is president and owner of the Singleton Corp. of Cleveland, OH, which manufactures accelerated corrosion testing chambers and other environmental exposure equipment and systems. Also manufactured are "barrel type" metal finishing equipment and systems for electroplating, phosphating, black oxidizing, and metal cleaning.

Singleton holds U.S. patents for both corrosion testing and metal finishing apparatus. In addition to giving presentations on these topics to various trade groups, he has written articles on corrosion testing which have been published in Metal Finishing and Products Finishing.

He is a member of the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society and of ASTM, where he is currently chairman of ASTM's Section on Cabinet Corrosion Tests. Singleton obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Baldwin-Wallace College.
