Ethical Pitfalls: Avoiding Professional Hazards

Seminar Overview

Did you know that many state Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist regulatory boards receive more than 200 complaints a year against licensees, alleging violations of the code of ethics? Among the complaint allegations are issues of improper or fraudulent billing or documentation, practicing on a lapsed license or unlicensed practice, sexual/non-sexual boundary violations, impaired practitioners and a wide range of others. The process of helping others is becoming increasingly dangerous, with a variety of complex dilemmas that challenge the integrity of service providers and organizations alike. This informative, one-day seminar, taught by a former state regulatory Investigator, examines the most common ethical mistakes made during the course of practice, using actual case studies to illustrate simple oversights and everyday errors, as well as the deliberate, blatant blunders of former helping professionals who lost their licenses and careers to bad choices and poor practices. Through this fascinating, interactive and hands-on exploration, clinicians will gain insight into the traps that have hurt both clients and clinicians, and provide prevention strategies and resources for every stakeholder. Fee per person EARLY BIRD 10 days before seminar: $169, $159 each for two to four people, $149 each for five or more. Fee per person REGULAR less than 10 days before the seminar: $189, $179 each for two to four, $169 each for five or more.
