Seminar Brochure

Gain an appreciation for the purpose and application of ethical standards, while learning to decrease risk in your practice

Never has there been such a focus on one profession as there is on the mental health profession. Our society has become so litigious in nature, that mental health professionals must be ever cognizant of being sued for doing their job. The profession touted as "the helping profession" has become a "risky business." Our product is intangible in the sense that outcomes vary among customers, yet we are held accountable for those outcomes. Our professional organizations have established "ethics and standards" for practice which are frequently interpreted as "laws," and many states are requiring that professionals take ethics courses. We never know if a client is going to request our records or presence in a legal matter.

This course will help sort out fact from fiction about the nature of ethics and their application in practice. Clinicians will gain an appreciation for the purpose and application of ethical standards, while learning to decrease risk in their practice.
