Complete Seminar Details

In this one-day seminar you will examine common structural imbalances of the head and neck, torso and lower extremities that can contribute to painful and debilitating conditions including nerve impingement conditions, scoliosis, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, thoracic outlet syndrome and rotator cuff and cervical conditions. You will perform manual manipulation techniques that work to stretch and lengthen fascia and muscle and restore postural alignment. Much of the course will be devoted to demonstration and hands-on practice of structural integration techniques so that these skills can immediately be incorporated into existing routines and treatment protocols for improved results. Keywords: Massage Therapists, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers, Certified Personal Trainers, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists, Chiropractors, Exercise Physiologists. Fee per person EARLY BIRD 10 days before seminar: $179, $169 each for two to four people, $159 each for five or more. Fee per person REGULAR less than 10 days before the seminar: $199, $189 each for two to four, $179 each for five or more.

Examine common structural imbalances and resulting conditions of the head and neck, torso and lower extremities. Perform manual manipulation of muscle and soft tissue to achieve postural alignment, better function and performance.

Our bodies are constantly affected by the forces of gravity. When we are out of balance, gravity drags us down, just as it drags down a building that has lost its architectural integrity. Whether from poor posture, injury, illness or emotional distress, an unbalanced body is struggling with gravity, causing pain, stress and decreased energy. When the body loses its architectural integrity, the fascia shortens and thickens in patterns of strain and tightness. These patterns manifest as slouched bodies with heads too far forward, hyper-erect bodies, knock knees or bowed legs, flat feet or high arches, spinal curvature, tilted pelvis and numerous other structural misalignments. Structural integration is a manual therapy method used to free these holding patterns and fascial restrictions to move the body and posture back into balance. With controlled pressure and direction the fascia is softened and lengthened, allowing the body to right itself effortlessly in gravity. The fascial sheaths that surround muscles loosen and realign the tissue around joints which creates better balance, posture, movement and function.

WHAT YOU WILL COVER
  • Examine the causes of postural imbalance and resulting conditions—including plantar fasciitis, shin splints, nerve impingement, rotator cuff and cervical conditions
  • Perform postural assessment to identify structural imbalances in the body
  • Use controlled pressure and direction to help soften and lengthen fascia and realign the tissue surrounding joints
  • Discover how to use structural integration as a full body treatment or in conjunction with other modalities
  • Promote enhanced function and performance for every client…from athlete to active individual to long-time chronic pain sufferer
  • Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:
    • Identify painful conditions of the upper torso, pelvic region and lower extremity that are associated with structural imbalance and postural deviation
    • Explain the theory, benefits and effects of structural integration
    • Discuss the concepts of tensegrity and fascial thixotropy in relation to the body's structure
    • Assess for postural deviations in anatomical structures
    • Demonstrate structural integration techniques that work to soften and lengthen fascia and realign the soft tissue around joints
    • Examine ways to incorporate structural integration techniques into your clinical practice, as a specific full body treatment or in conjunction with other modalities
