Complete Seminar Details

Participants in this one-day seminar will learn how to assess movement in the kinetic chain and to develop and implement training exercises that correct deficiencies. You will examine common injuries of the lower extremity, including patella femoral disorders and medial, lateral and anterior cruciate ligament injuries, and then determine how movement deficiencies are often the cause. Participants will examine flexibility, body weight and resistance exercises as well as ground-based and sport-specific training strategies that reinforce proper movement patterns. Pre-training preparation is the target of this seminar; however, training models will also be discussed. Participants will improve their knowledge from lecture and hands-on activity. Keywords: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Athletic Trainers, Exercise Physiologists, Strength and Conditioning Specialists, Personal Trainers, Coaches and Training Staff, Health and Fitness Professionals, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants. Fee per person EARLY BIRD 10 days before seminar: $189, $179 each for two to four people, $169 each for five or more. Fee per person REGULAR less than 10 days before the seminar: $209, $199 each for two to four, $189 each for five or more.

Assess movement in the kinetic chain and develop ground-based and sport-specific training strategies as well as flexibility, body weight and resistance exercises that reinforce proper movement patterns and correct deficiencies.

Many athletes and physically active individuals engage in sport and activity without proper preparation. Movement patterns that hinder performance and increase injury risk can be reinforced when training routines begin. Strength training can place loads on body parts that are out of position and create pain, injury and reinforce poor motor patterns. For example, increased incidence of anterior cruciate ligament injury in the female athlete can be attributed mostly to poor knee position created from muscle dominance, weakness and reduced mobility. A well-planned strength and conditioning routine that is preceded by an assessment and correction of movement deficiency through the kinetic chain can enhance performance and enjoyment and reduce injury risk.

WHAT YOU WILL COVER
  • Detect deficiencies in the kinetic chain through assessment of movement and body alignment
  • Demonstrate flexibility, body weight and resistance training exercises that correct movement deficits
  • Optimize kinetic chain mobility and stability before adding resistance in training
  • Develop ground-based and sport-specific training strategies that help improve function and performance
  • Identify limitations in the kinetic chain through movement assessment
  • Associate common sport injuries to kinetic chain limitations
  • Analyze shoulder, knee, leg and foot positioning to locate alignment deficiencies
  • Demonstrate movement assessment protocols and corrective exercises in a hands-on lab
  • Discover methods to teach resistance training exercises to movement-limited populations
